HOLO Carrier works with two included film carriers that hold 35mm film or MEDIUM FORMAT film. Holders ensure ultimate film flatness during scanning and can hold film strips as well as individual frames.

Key features of the HOLO system
1. High-quality light source
BlackBox HOLO includes the CineStill CS-LITE, a professional light panel engineered specifically for film scanning. With a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 95+ and brightness reaching EV 15+, it delivers exceptional color accuracy and perfectly even illumination for every frame.
2. Perfect masking and alignment by design
HOLO is built from high-density PLA and ABS components for maximum stability. Its functional design is created with one purpose - to always hold your camera perfectly parallel to the film plane while completely masking it from ambient light. In contrast to other setups, HOLO doesn’t need leveling, masking, or alignment. Ever.
3. Film transport system
This HOLO Carrier scans 35 mm and Medium Format film using dedicated film carriers. These carriers ensure that film remains perfectly flat, even when dealing with curled or uneven strips and individual film frames. The 35 mm carrier also reveals the full frame borders, including half of the sprocket holes.
4. Adjustable height
HOLO includes five spacers for height adjustment: 20 mm, 30 mm, 40 mm, 100 mm, and 150 mm. Spacers connect via a bayonet-lock mechanism - insert & twist. The spacers can be combined in any combination to match the minimum focusing distance of your macro lens. HOLO supports lenses up to 135 mm focal length when scanning 6×9 format on a full-frame camera. Additional extension sections are available upon request.
5. Compatible lenses
A lens mounts on top of the HOLO via the filter thread connection. The system includes adapters supporting lenses with filter diameters of 77 mm, 72 mm, 67 mm, 62 mm, 58 mm, 55 mm, 52 mm, 49 mm, and 37 mm — ensuring compatibility with virtually any macro lens. A lens lock mechanism keeps the setup stable, even when using heavier camera bodies.
